Sam Raimi (born October 23, 1959) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter, best known for creating the Evil Dead franchise and directing the original Spider-Man trilogy (2002–07). He also directed films like Darkman (1990), A Simple Plan (1998), Drag Me to Hell (2009), Oz the Great and Powerful (2013), and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). A prolific producer, Raimi has worked on horror films like The Grudge (2004) and Don't Breathe (2016), as well as TV series such as Xena: Warrior Princess (1995–2001). He founded Renaissance Pictures and Ghost House Pictures.
